Regularisation application

A regularisation is a retrospective application which is used for works which have already commenced or are complete.

We strongly advise that you do not put yourself in a situation where a regularisation is necessary, as carrying out building works without consent is illegal and contravenes the Building Act 1984. This type of application is likely to cause you more expense and delay, possibly even loss of the sale of your property if you are in the process of selling. We may require parts of the structure to be uncovered in order to carry out inspections required and you may need to put right works that have not been carried out to the correct standards.

This type of application can only be used for work carried out after 11 November 1985.

What is the charge?

All fees for Lewes District Council fee details are detailed on the fee tables page. A single fee is required for site inspections which must be paid in full when you submit your application to us. The fee is calculated at 130% of the building notice charge (no VAT payable).

Eastbourne Borough Council has partnered with the East Sussex Building Control Partnership for building control services. If you live in Eastbourne you can find out more information on the East Sussex Building Control Partnership.
