New taxi driver licence - Eastbourne Borough Council

Eastbourne Borough Council's Licensing Committee adopted new guidance from 4 April 2022. The guidance had a phased implementation over a six month period. You can download the guidance below.

How to apply

The application for this licence is online. To apply for a driver licence you must:

  • read the Eastbourne Borough Council taxi guidance below
  • hold a full UK DVLA Driving Licence
  • pass a Group II Medical examination        
  • pass a driving proficiency test 
  • undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • pass a local area knowledge test
  • have an HMRC Tax Code

Before you apply

As part of this application you will need to upload documents to provide proof of your eligibility. You will also need to complete the enhanced digital Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You can find out which documents you need to upload for your DBS check, by visiting the GOV.UK website.
