The CIL Charging Schedule is a document that sets out the general explanation of CIL, the background to its preparation and the methodology used for setting the proposed CIL rates.

The rates are index-linked, with the adjustment taking place at the start of each calendar year. The effective rate that will apply 2020 are set out in our Annual CIL Rate Summary for each authority.

Payment of CIL

CIL must be paid within 60 days of the commencement of development. Where a CIL liability is over £50,000 for a development in Lewes District the liable party may pay in accordance with our Instalments Policy subject to complying with the Regulations.
