Cabinet praises 'impressive' council performance
Cabinet councillors last night (Wednesday, July 15) welcomed a report highlighting the authority's achievements and performance over the previous year, with strong progress delivered across housing, regeneration, environmental sustainability and customer services.

"From supporting residents through the cost-of-living crisis and delivering new affordable homes, to improving customer services and progressing major regeneration projects, we have continued to make real progress on the issues that matter most to our communities.
"I would like to thank our staff, partners and local organisations whose commitment and hard work have helped deliver these achievements."
Housing delivery remained a key priority during 2025/26. The council is on target to deliver more than 200 homes through new-build and acquisition programmes, including three new fully accessible homes. Work also continued to improve the energy efficiency of council housing through grant-funded retrofit programmes.
The council's regeneration programme also moved forward, with Victoria Place pedestrianisation completed, work beginning on the next phase of town centre regeneration and the adoption of the Eastbourne Seafront Strategy 2050.
Environmental progress included the introduction of sustainable pollinator-friendly planting, preparations for the borough's new food waste collection service, investment in electric vehicles and support for the creation of the Seven Sisters National Nature Reserve.
Meanwhile, customer service performance improved significantly, with calls to the council answered an average of 1 minute and 21 seconds faster than the previous year.
