North Street Quarter will unlock 'far-reaching public benefit'
Lewes District Council is set to take the next major step towards delivering the long awaited North Street Quarter (NSQ) development, as Cabinet councillors consider proposals to sell a key parcel of land and enable the comprehensive regeneration of the industrial brownfield site.

The majority of the land was purchased by the council earlier this year to safeguard the project and prevent the site being broken up.
Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council, said:
"This is a pivotal moment for North Street Quarter. Bringing the land back into single ownership is the key that unlocks everything else, the health hub, 685 homes, flood protection, public spaces, and the regeneration of a site that we have waited so long for.
"Residents have been promised a transformational development that delivers far-reaching public benefit - they can all be assured that our focus is on putting the project on the strongest possible footing and ensuring that the partners involved have the capability, experience and commitment to make it happen."
Human Nature has confirmed that Hollybrook, an experienced mixed‑use developer with a strong track record in construction and development management, has joined the project team to support the next phase of delivery.
Councillor Nicholson added:
"This is a nationally significant scheme that comes with all the challenge and complexity you associate with a former industrial location. However, our resolve has never wavered, and I look forward to discussing the report with my Cabinet colleagues."
Cabinet will meet on 16 July. The agenda and papers will be published at: Lewes District Council Cabinet
