A central feature of the event was a Living Library, where inspirational women from across the community shared their experiences and insights through informal conversations with visitors.

The Living Library included participants from a wide range of backgrounds including community leaders, health advocates, entrepreneurs, carers and public servants. Visitors were able to discuss issues important to them and, in some cases, were signposted to organisations able to provide support and guidance.

Alongside the Living Library, visitors took part in creative activities including making paper flowers and bead bracelets, while information and advice on women's wellbeing and support services was made available throughout the day.

Councillor Teri Sayers-Cooper, Women and Girls' Rights Champion, who organised the event, said: "International Women's Day is celebrated across the world, but it's important that we also bring those conversations into our local communities. The Living Library created a wonderful opportunity for people to listen to each other's experiences, share ideas and make meaningful connections."

The event also launched a Give to Gain community image gallery, inviting people to share photographs showing gestures of giving.

The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister, who welcomed visitors and helped set the tone for a day of conversation, connection and celebration.

Support for the event was also provided by Eastbourne Unlimited, the town's Chamber of Commerce, whose involvement helped connect the celebration with the wider Eastbourne business community.

The organisers also expressed their thanks to Gather at The Beacon, and to community manager Hend Moussa and the team, for hosting the event in the shopping centre's community space and helping make the day possible.
