With planning consent secured and construction scheduled to begin in early 2026, the council is now inviting expressions of interest for a letting of a stunning new seafront restaurant offering approximately 80 covers inside that is set to become a flagship destination for residents and visitors alike.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Newhaven's iconic cliffs and historic fort, the single-storey restaurant will offer panoramic views of the English Channel through floor-to-ceiling glazing and will boasts air source heat pumps, solar panels and a biodiverse roof.

The circa 4,065 sq ft space will also offer the potential for an additional 75 covers for alfresco dining across a terrace and lower deck, creating a vibrant indoor-outdoor dining experience.

Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council, said:

"This is a wonderful opportunity to shape a truly exceptional landmark restaurant in one of the most breathtaking locations in East Sussex.

"A venue of this quality demands a passionate operator who shares our ambition to create something special, something that celebrates local produce, community spirit, and the beauty of our coastline."

The restaurant forms part of a wider regeneration scheme that includes new leisure and community facilities, splash pads, outdoor gym equipment, and landscaped public spaces.
