Council Leader welcomes consultation on leisure services
The Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council has welcomed the decision at Full Council to undertake a public consultation on the provision of leisure services in Eastbourne, including the Sovereign Centre.

Councillor Stephen Holt, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said:
"Up and down the UK, there are countless examples of sports and leisure services taking the brunt of government cuts in funding for local government."
"We recognize the petition and strength of feeling in the town and, following through on our previous commitments, we will be organising a public consultation on leisure, including the Sovereign Centre."
"The consultation will include in-person public community meetings for questions to be answered. Councillors and senior officers will attend the consultation events being organised from June."
Councillor Holt added:
"Part of this consultation will cover the history of the Sovereign Centre, in the expectation that together we can develop a full, long-term plan for swimming and leisure in Eastbourne, enabling us to work together as we begin the new chapter in the Sovereign Centre, with the fun pool due to reopen in time for the Easter Holiday."
