Traffic Regulation Order proposals in Eastbourne

We are currently consulting on the traffic regulation orders in Eastbourne and welcome your feedback.

Latest update on the Sovereign Centre

Further to a recent post stating that the fun pool and training pool would be closing following the end of the governance process, we wanted to provide further details of the next steps from here.

It is quite normal for us to receive approaches from businesses and other organisations interested in operating council services.

We have received enquiries regarding the Sovereign Centre and will speak to the parties that have contacted us. These conversations will be based on the council's need to operate the pools on a cost-neutral basis. We will therefore be asking whether or not these parties could operate the pools without being subsidised by the Council.

In the meantime, as explained, the Fun Pool will remain closed due to running costs, but this closure is not irreversible. Also as planned, the Training Pool remains open for lessons until the end of January.

We will be speaking to those who have lessons booked and provide details of the new arrangements beyond January 2025, should the Training Pool not reopen.

We understand how difficult these decisions are and appreciate the representations made from members of the public and our partners.
We hope that this statement provides clarity at this time.
