Some 164 venues, including churches, windmills and potteries, are taking part in the visual arts festival which continues to be one of the biggest of its kind in the south east. Artwave connects hundreds of artists and makers with tens of thousands of appreciative viewers and visitors each year.

Gloria Beyer's jug emblazoned with 'Good Old Sussex By The Sea' was chosen as the cover image for this year's Artwave printed guide.

She said: "I was delighted to be invited to feature on the cover of this year's Artwave brochure, a really special privilege for anyone exhibiting in the festival.

"It has been particularly fun seeing the jug pop up on posters around the town and district, something I could never have imagined when I attended my first Artwave over twenty years ago!

"I hope it's been a good ambassador for this wonderful celebration of local creativity, and also for the beautiful place we are lucky to call home."

The festival, now in its 31st year, was launched on September 7 and runs over three weekends until September 22.

Art lovers have the opportunity to follow four trails, taking in an array of exhibitions along the way. The trails are: Haven Trail, Seaford Trail, Lewes Trail and Rural Trail.

To plan your visit, pick up a printed guide from Lewes or Seaford Tourist Information Centres, from Charleston Lewes, at venues around the district, or browse the guide online at artwavefestival.org.

Artwave is made possible by the support of Lewes District Council and local businesses, including headline sponsors Artelium Wine Estate.
