We recognise the vital role the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) plays in benefiting visitors, residents and local businesses alike.
We are working to provide a TIC service which promotes the town on a more substantial basis and we have asked Lewes Chamber of Commerce and Lewes Town Council to work with us on our future service provision.
Working alongside local consultants Blue Sail, in partnership with Lewes Chamber of Commerce and Lewes Town Council, we undertook a research project for the future provision of the TIC. This project encompassed the thoughts of local businesses, residents and tourists. The full reports of these surveys, as well as the full report can be viewed here:
Lewes District Council (LDC) is awaiting confirmation from Lewes Town Council (LTC) about whether it wishes to explore transfer of 187 High Street. As soon as LDC knows LTC's intentions, we will be able to confirm the future for the building.
In parallel to the discussions about the future of the building, LDC is in active talks with a number of groups about a future tourist information centre provision.
We hope to be in a position to confirm the future for this important building and service very shortly.

What works took place at 187 High Street?
The works included shop front repairs, roof repairs and replacement of guttering and other rainwater goods.
To allow the building works, Lewes Tourist Information Centre was moved for the time being to 6 High Street, Lewes which the team has been sharing with Lewes District Council and Lewes Citizen's Advice to provide a one-stop, easily accessible location for information and advice for residents and visitors.
