Re-imagining Newhaven

Supported by the Future High Streets Fund

In June 2020, Lewes District Council submitted a bid for £7.2 million from the Government's Future High Streets Fund to help transform Newhaven Town Centre and High Street, creating up to 200 jobs by 2024. The Re-imagining Newhaven programme is the culmination of 18 months' work to give residents and businesses the chance to shape the future of their town. To support the bid further, the Council has committed to co-funding a number of initiatives should Government award us funding.

In Spring 2021, Government confirmed Newhaven would receive just over £5m to deliver a package of interventions to transform underutilised and vacant commercial properties in the heart of the Town Centre by March 2024.
