Eastbourne Community Toilet Scheme
Overview of the scheme
Through the Eastbourne Community Toilet Scheme (ECTS), Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) and local business and community organisations are working in partnership to provide the level and availability of toilet provision required by Eastbourne's community.
The scheme enables members of the public to access toilet facilities across a range of venues in Eastbourne. The scheme involves the council, businesses and organisations making their toilet facilities available, or a business/organisation operating one of the public toilets located across the town. The scheme brings together partners interested in making available clean, safe and accessible toilet provision across Eastbourne.
The public are allowed to use scheme participants' toilet facilities during agreed opening hours and without the need to make a purchase, where applicable. Scheme participants are identified by an ECTS sign clearly displayed in their window or near their property (see example), and details of the scheme are displayed across the town and on the council's website - full details can be found by scanning the QR code like the one in the example sticker.
A message from the Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council
"I am proud and grateful for the way in which the whole community - Eastbourne Borough Council, local businesses and community groups - is working together to ensure fundamental, public toilet provision is made available for everybody in our great town. The level of ECTS provision and its coverage across our communities is testament to the partners collectively owning and responding to a clear need for safe, clean and accessible facilities for all. This scheme will support Eastbourne to remain a place where people choose to live, work, visit, study and volunteer."
