Eat Out, Eat Well award scheme

The award scheme for caterers who make it easier for their customers to make healthy choices when eating out.

Launched in 2014 in East and West Sussex, Eat Out, Eat Well has been developed to encourage any catering establishment to offer healthier menu options.

How it works

It is symbolised by an apple logo in the shape of a heart and has three levels:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold

The level of award is based on a scoring system that takes into account the type of food on offer, cooking methods, and how the meals are promoted to customers. This scheme benefits both caterers by promoting their businesses and consumers by helping them make healthier choices when eating out.

How to apply

The free award is open to all types of food businesses that cater for the public. If you are interested in achieving an award, please contact us.

What you need to do to be an award winner

To achieve an Eat Out, Eat Well award, applicants must:

  • Meet the required standard for food hygiene and food standards, at registration stage
  • Where required, make changes to the way their food is prepared, consistent with the award conditions, and where appropriate provide and promote healthier menu choices in the establishment
