Best Bar None Eastbourne

Latest update - December 2024: Best Bar None Eastbourne has reopened to expressions of interest until Friday 31 January 2025.

The scheme helps promote Eastbourne as a safe and vibrant place to go at night so that residents and visitors can feel confident about enjoying an evening out in the town.

It's also good for business, with the Home Office recognising the scheme as having a positive effect on the night time economy.

First piloted in Manchester in 2003, it has since been adopted by 75 town and cities across the UK.

In 2023, Best Bar None is coming to Eastbourne.

How your business can get involved

We have reopened the scheme for new expressions until Friday 31 January 2025. You can express an interest if you operate a pub, bar, café, restaurant or hotel in Eastbourne and are interested in becoming an accredited venue.

Assessments will be undertaken between February and April 2025.

Through a robust assessment and accreditation process the scheme aims to:

• Support efforts to reduce alcohol related crime and disorder
• Build positive relationships between the licensed trade, police and local authorities
• Improve knowledge and skills in the responsible management of licensed premises
• Recognise and reward responsible premises
• Support venues to meet the minimum standards
• Champion ongoing improvement in the management of licensed premises
• Enable the sharing of good practice amongst licensed premises
