Asset management and the repairs services for tenants and leaseholders of Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council is delivered by Housing Property Services. Housing Property Services manage a combined property portfolio of over 8,500 homes and invests c.£20million per annum in maintenance, service contracts, major repairs and improvements. Housing Property Services manages a varied property portfolio from rural individual properties to flats in busy town centres Our service is also growing as the Councils' investment companies develop new housing covering a range of different tenures and accommodation types.

We are looking for a Surveyor to be part of a team of Surveyors that deliver our major works and repairs service in the Eastbourne Borough area. You and your team will ensure that the repairing obligations to residents are delivered to a high standard and to the terms of their tenancy agreements, leases and management agreements. The role involves:

  • Providing surveying and contract administration services for Housing Property Services.
  • Overseeing works relating to planned maintenance, compliance, void properties, disabled adaptations and day to day repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensuring that the Councils comply with all statutory duties in relation to its housing stock, and welfare of tenants, staff, and contractors.
  • Ensuring that exemplary customer communication is provided through all works streams to tenants, leaseholders, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Overseeing project delivery from inception to completion, on time and within budgets, and to a high quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the procurement of all works including repairs, maintenance, voids, aids and adaptations, major works, and capital investment, having regard for the Contract Procedure Rules.
  • Supporting with the resolution of complaints, insurance claims and disrepair cases, damp and mould cases, enquiries by MPs, enquiries by Councillors, enquiries by Ombudsman and Freedom of Information Requests.
  • Producing clear specifications, schedules of work and instructions to remedy defects.

You will already be involved in property services delivery, having detailed knowledge of property major works project management, property repairs and maintenance, and who is keen to develop your career in management of a team. You must hold a recognised building technical qualification to at least a Degree / HNC standard in relevant discipline, or working towards formal relevant qualification, or equivalent professional work experience.  Knowledge and experience of dealing with external contractors and consultants, building construction/maintenance, and building pathology is essential.  You will need to be confident and have the skill and experience to use property and repair management systems, to manage the delivery of property services.

With this role, there is an opportunity for candidates requiring Apprenticeship Levy Funded training in Chartered Surveyor (Degree) (Level 6).
