We work in a rich planning environment across two varied authorities, and this is an exciting time to be joining us, as we develop the Local Plans for Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council in addition to preparing a set of plans and strategies for each authority.
As a Planning Policy Officer, you will play a crucial role in formulating planning policy, and all associated documents for both Eastbourne and Lewes councils. You will be an integral part of the planning policy team with opportunities to take on a wide range of work. From the challenges of climate change impacting on our coastal shoreline, infrastructure challenges from a rural district, to working on Eastbourne town centre priorities. The role will provide an opportunity to work in both urban and rural planning environments.
About you:
We are looking for a committed individual; the role would suit a graduate with a recognised planning qualification or an experienced individual looking to move onto the next stage of their career.
Combining a keen interest in the field of planning policy, excellent communication and co-ordination skills, with a willingness to take the initiative, you will have the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively. You will also have a eye for detail, especially looking at numbers as well as words to help develop the evidence base. Candidates with relevant experience gained in planning policy, development management, neighbourhood planning, regeneration and the private sector would be particularly welcomed.
