Coffee pods and capsules

Reduce

Use a refillable pod or capsule

Reuse

Theses are not easy to reuse

Recycle - in your household recycling bin

Home coffee machines use pods or capsules made from different types of plastics with either plastic lid or an aluminium lid or are entirely made from aluminium. Only aluminium pods, capsules and lids can be recycled.

Refuse bin

Yes please if it is made from a material other than aluminium. Some pods and capsules are marketed as "sustainable," "eco-friendly," or "biodegradable." While these claims suggest that the capsules should be easily recyclable or compostable, this is often not the case. Unless a capsule is made from aluminium, we are unable to accept it for recycling. Industrial-scale composting systems, which we do not have, are required for effective composting. Additionally, biodegradable items are generally made from plant-based materials that are not recyclable, even if they may resemble plastic.

Other places to recycle and other information
