Customers are advised to read the Council’s criteria for numbering properties and naming streets prior to submitting an application. These can be found in section 10 of the Council's Street Naming and Numbering Policy.
Applications submitted for postal addresses for properties, including flats, must be accompanied by site plans annotated with plot numbers (minimum scale of 1:2500), along with the approved planning permission reference. Where there are to be blocks of flats, floor plans showing plot numbers are also required.
Please note that plot numbers and postal numbers may not always coincide.
Applications for new developments with streets should be submitted at least four months before the development completion date to allow time for the street naming consultation process.
These applications must be accompanied by site plans annotated with plot numbers on a scale of 1:2500. Where there are to be blocks of flats, floor plans showing the plot numbers are also required.
Please note that plot numbers and postal numbers may not always coincide. Please also note that it is not lawful to erect a street nameplate until the street names has been officially registered by this Council.
The charge for registering a new address or development is currently £50 per plot.
