Bulky waste items

Larger unwanted items, referred to as bulky waste items, cannot be placed in your household recycling or refuse bins. This includes bric-a-brac, electrical items and furniture. These types of items need to be taken to an East Sussex County Council run Household Waste and Recycling Site (also known as the tip) for safe and suitable disposal or recycling.

Alternatively, you can arrange for the council to collect large bulky items separately using our Bulky Waste Collection Service. 

Reduce

Look for Toy Libraries and other loan schemes of  items such as tools or gardening equipment in your area.

Where possible, opt for durable products and items.

Reuse

Sell or pass on useable items

Good quality items can be donated. East Sussex County Council has a useful directory of local organisations that can reuse and recycle furniture. Alternatively, Anglo Doorstep Collections offer a free collection service for certain items you may want to dispose of.
