What happens after you have made a nomination?

Once Lewes District Council or Eastbourne Borough Council receives a nomination for an Asset of Community Value, you should receive a response within eight weeks.

When a nomination is received we make sure that:

  • the organisation making the nomination is eligible to do so
  • we check that the asset is in an included category, as some sites are excluded
  • we ensure that all the information required is complete

The organisation that nominated the asset for inclusion will be notified of the outcome.

Successful nominations

If the application is successful the site will be added to the list of Assets of Community Value. A site that is included remains on the list for 5 years. Once that period comes to an end, a community group may wish to nominate the same asset again.

We will notify the owner of the site of the decision to list a site as an Asset of Community Value. An owner has the right to appeal against the decision. To find out how visit Community Right to Bid appeal against a decision. For more information about the legal rights of property owners visit Assets of Community Value Regulations 2012.

Unsuccessful nominations

If a nomination is unsuccessful, the site will be added to a list of Unsuccessful Assets of Community Value nominations. The list will state the reasons for the decision.

Published nomination lists

The successful and unsuccessful nomination lists are published on our website. You can download the current lists in PDF format below.
