Newhaven Enterprise Zone

With substantial physical capacity for growth, Newhaven is evolving from an historic industrial and marine economy to become a key harbour town on the South Coast.

It offers space for growth in clean, green and marine technology sectors linked to recent developments including the UTC@harbourside and the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. Its transport links offer strong opportunities for business growth that will create new employment and training opportunities for the local community.

Set up by government, Enterprise Zones are designated areas across England. They have access to tax breaks and government support to encourage local growth.

The Newhaven Enterprise Zone is a collaboration led by Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and Lewes District Council. It is made up of eight sites across the town covering approximately 79 hectares, and is supported by key partners including East Sussex County Council, Newhaven Town Council and South East LEP.

Over the next 25 years the Newhaven Enterprise Zone will:

  • develop 55,000 square metres of new commercial premises
  • refurbish 15,000 square metres existing commercial premises
  • create and sustain around 2,000 jobs

Businesses locating to the Newhaven Enterprise Zone have access to additional benefits. These include potential for relief on their business rates, simplified planning rules and dedicated support and advice.
