Closed: Consultation Lewes District Council's Statement of Gambling Principles

From Thursday 19 December 2024 to Thursday 6 February 2025 we invited feedback on our updated Statement of Gambling Principles. This consultation has now closed.

A summary report of consultaiton responses will be available from this page soon. The report will be considered at the Lewes District Council Licensing Committee.

As a licensing authority, Lewes District Council is required every successive three years to prepare and publish a statement of the principles that it proposes to apply in exercising its functions under the Gambling Act 2005.

Download: LDC Statement of Gambling Principles (PDF, 1 MB) ("the Statement").

Having reviewed the current Statement, the Council proposes to amend the Statement as per the parts highlighted in red.

The proposed changes in the Statement relate to requiring licensed premises to carry out age verification test purchases, checking the age of any customer who appear to be under 25 years of age, and the updating of the Risk Assessment requirements to include minimum criteria for such assessments.

We invited comments from residents and businesses on the proposed changes.
