Council will appoint first Women and Girls Champion in Sussex
Eastbourne Borough Council will be appointing its first Women and Girls Champion, it was announced on International Women's Day today (Friday, March 8).
Councillor Teri-Sayers Cooper, the council's Equality Champion said: "It has been a long and hard-won fight for women's rights and I am pleased that the council is committed to upholding these. The appointed Women and Girls Champion will be working hard to make sure women and girls voices are heard in our community.
"Additionally, they will focus on ensuring everything possible is being done to keep women and girls safe in our town by creating and enhancing safer environments."
