How do they work?

An apprenticeship is a real job with training. You will earn money whilst learning and will gain a nationally recognised qualification.  Apprenticeships can take between one and six years to complete. The length of the apprenticeship depends on its level, the skills the apprenticeship already has and the industry itself.  The training for the apprenticeship takes place in the workplace and also outside of the workplace at a college or training provider. Again this is dependent on the level and course.

Can I do an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are available to anyone regardless of age and experience. If you are over 16, not in full-time education and living in England then you can do an apprenticeship.

How much can you earn as an apprentice?

Apprenticeship salaries vary depending on the company you work for but you will be paid at least the national minimum wage which is £5.28 per hour, this applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.  Many companies pay a lot higher than this including Eastbourne Borough Council, who pay at least the National Living Wage.  Remember that this is in addition to the cost of the apprenticeship training itself.

3. Once you have found a job you are interested in, create an account and submit your application
