Environmental information regulations

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 give the public the right to access to environmental information held by public authorities. The regulations allow you to access information about:    

  • the state of the environment
  • emissions and discharges 
  • measures and activities likely to affect the environment
  • the state of human health

Environmental Information Regulation requests should be requested just like freedom of information requests.

Exceptions

The councils will always try to provide all the information you have requested; however, there are exceptions from disclosure.
